"Yeah, I guess. I mean, I could watch the kid or we could pay someone, I guess. You can get 'em through agencies with references and everything. I could pay, I got an PIP payout." His social worker wanted him to use it to try and get therapy and education. Bill wanted to have fun with it. He'd get another PIP next year anyway.
Adam turned his head around and pouted at Crowley but he did, indeed, remove his hands from his pants. Bill shrugged. "Fair. Every bloke loves their dick, even as a boy. I know I did." He couldn't remember ever not wanting to play with it.
"Guess so. Dunno if I should though, because they say stability is real important and he's only just started getting settled." On the other hand, he supposed it might be good to get him used to the concept of babysitters too, if he wanted to have any semblance of a life. Something to think about.
"He likes playing with it a lot. Put a sock on it the other day and would not stop laughing." It was, admittedly, pretty funny.
Silent for a moment, Crowley bit down on his lower lip and then looked at Bill. "he's religious. The library bloke. But I think he's trying to get out of it. He's from that creepy place with the white church, you know. The one we don't walk past."
"The one that gives out pamphlets?" Yeah, he knew the place. They lectured on the street, they preached about Jesus at Christmas on the street and they were dodgy as fuck as far as Bill could see it. "That's the mormon lot, ain't it? Where they have loads of wives and get a planet at the end. I dunno if I'd want a whole planet. Seems too big." He'd never see all of it so it seemed pointless. A country made more sense.
He had a horrible feeling just thinking about that place and he wasn't even part of it. Huh. "Must be scary. To live with that sort and be gay. They do conversion and shit. I hope he can pass."
"He cannot, Bill. I'd sooner class you as butch than him. He's a total-- I thought he'd have to be flaming out and proud until he corrected me on that." Really made an arse of himself on that occasion. "Gayer than a barrelful of monkeys, that one."
So, yes, Crowley was really hoping he'd get out of there soon. "I guess that's why I danced with him. Give him the incentive to leave." Well. "And because he's well fit."
"He should get his ass out of there. Maybe he doesn't get it. I mean, he might start too with you being his Romeo and all but like, being gay is better than being holy or whatever. We got community, we got great music and we got pride. And sometimes, we got rainbow condoms." And they tasted like bubblegum flavour too.
With an amused smile, Bill snorted and leaned his head back, huffing out a laugh. "Heh. Finally fucking happened. I knew it would. You actually like someone, you daft berk. Why did it have to be a Christian?"
"Good question. And if a Christian, why not Holden? Holden's probably the most together person I know. If you ignore the giant Felix red flag." A lot of wisdom to be found with Holden. A lot of wisdom and then the mess that was loving Felix. So, yeah, probably very reasonable to not fall for Holden.
But Aziraphale? Huh. "I like him, but, y'know. Mostly just want to unleash him. And keep an eye on the lil gay cherub, see he doesn't get totally corrupted."
Crowley leaned forward, calling out to Adam again. "It's bedtime, brat! Turn off the telly. You want Uncle Bill to tuck you in?"
Adam came out with a pout and shook his head. "I'm not tired, uncle. I'm really not."
"You're not? Pfft. Well. Let's just lay down and take a kip together then? Cause I'm knackered and I need the company." Bill lied as he crouched down and held open his arms, melting as soon as Adam was in them. Kids always made him so soft. They hugged him and wanted him and he felt so loved. "Uncle will make you sleep but me and you, we can doss around a bit."
They never did. Bill lay Adam down, sat on the bed next to him and within ten minutes, every damn time, Adam fell asleep mid talk. He grinned at Crowley knowingly. "Did he brush his teeth already?"
"Yeah, he's all ready to go. Pearly whites taken care of." Crowley got off the sofa to walk over to Bill and Adam, leaning down to kiss Adam's cheek. "Uncle's gonna have to sleep soon, but I guess you and Bill can stay awake together. Just lie down in bed though, yeah?"
And it wouldn't take long. It never did. Out like a light within a few minutes. Small mercies. "You sleep well, kid. Tomorrow you come to work with me. Fun times."
He couldn't wait for him to finally go to nursery.
